Great Grandpa B Turns 83

On October 14, 2011 Great Grandpa Burger turned 83, and we were there to help him celebrate!
We celebrated with a small family gathering, a little Jim's Chicken, cupcakes, and presents.

Marcella helped Great-Grandpa B read his birthday cards.

Marcella's Kitchen Drawer

At a little over 9 months of age, it is no secret that Marcella is mobile and active. In fact, on numerous occasions I have already been told I am just raising myself--an active individual who doesn't like naps and appreciates routine. Well the other evening, Marci discovered my baking drawer. Filled with measuring cups, teaspoons, tablespoons, mixing beaters, and cookie spatulas Marcella was in heaven. She stood and talked up a storm while carefully pulling each item out of the drawer. She even discovered that tablespoons make a pretty loud noise when banged on the oven door. At first, I attempted to put the items back. I quickly learned keeping her out without a drawer lock is nearly impossible...so this has become Marci's Kitchen Drawer.

Baby Burger: 60 Days and Counting!

In less than 60 days, Marcella will welcome her first Burger Cousin! Baby Boy Burger is due Christmas day; the proud parents-to-be are my brother, Josh, and his wife, Lauren. We will travel to Denver in November to celebrate her baby shower, and the back again in December to see the little handsome lad himself. They news was shared with our family on July 1 using the onesie you see Marci wearing. I almost passed out when Lauren secretly pulled me aside and asked me to put it on Marci around dinner time. I swallowed my excitement and held by the tears of joy--not to ruin it! This was a great start to our weekend of fun in the mountains. 2011 has turned out to be a great year for our family: 2 new babies and 1 wedding. Cousin Kyle Langley is getting married to Rebecca (Becca) Woodall on Saturday, November 5...that's just next weekend! This photo was taken on July 1.

First Pearly White

It may have taken almost 9 months, but do you see what we see? Look very carefully and you'll see Marcella's first tooth peeking through her gums. It first appeared two Sundays ago on October 16. Each day it appears to be pushing up a little more than the day before. It is her bottom left tooth; we can also see one speck of white for the tooth next to her bottom left, not the middle right. Her smile may be a little off balance for a while if this is the case. I snapped these quick pic during her bath two nights ago. They are perfect for showing off her first pearly white!

9 Months

On Monday, October 24, our friend, Amanda Janzen, came over to shoot a few fall photos of Marcella. Although we did not order the wind, the late afternoon was an overall success. All of these photos were taken at the farm, mostly on the north side of the shelter belt...out of the terrible wind! Here is a link to Amanda's website that will display three sneak peek photos of the overall shoot. We cannot wait to see the rest.

Thank you, Amanda!

Sunny Side: Round II

The following Friday we joined Ama and her two boys, Mahpiya (Chauncey) and Mato (Thorpe), for another fun afternoon of pumpkin picking and playing. But, this time we ended the day with pizza and pumpkin carving! I couldn't tell you the last time we carved pumpkins; it was a blast!

Mahpiya, Marcella, and Mato...that's a lot of M's!

Everyone say, "Pumpkins!"

Marci with Mahpiya's pumpkin.

At almost nine months, sometimes it is best to just try and eat the pumpkins.

Because of the flash you cannot tell, but we did take all of the pumpkins out on the deck for the full effect.
